Living A Godly Life (I)
1 Peter 2:11 TPT
[11] My divinely loved friends, since you are resident aliens and foreigners in this world, I appeal to you to divorce yourselves from the evil desires that wage war within you.
In the next few weeks, we would be studying around the Apostle Peter’s model of living a godly life. This subject is very crucial as it reminds us of the reason for our existence.
To live a godly life, the first principle that Apostle Peter introduced is the principle of identity. We must always remember who we are on the earth. We are foreigners and aliens to the system of the world. One major thing that the devil wants to do to any serious-minded believer is to make him feel comfortable with the worldly system. Once the devil achieves this, the believer loses his identity and the strength of his influence over his territory. Therefore, we have to be careful.
It is possible to be in the world and never be a part of its system. Daniel did it. Esther did it. You also can do it because there is a provision in the kingdom allocated for this possibility.
How? Divorce yourself from evil desires. Check your desires and identify those ones that are evil. Be humble to acknowledge what is evil as evil and get rid of them, condemn them and wage war against them (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
As you go out this week, live in the consciousness of who you are in Christ and make up your mind to live that life without compromise. A godly living is possible in this perverse world if every believer can truly belief in the possibility and work with the grace allocated for this possibility.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
